You have to scroll all the way down. Very short, but positive (as seems to be the case almost everywhere).

Interesting think-piece about both Fanclub and Wilco. Pretty thoughtful stuff and sweet-hearted. Works for me as Fanclub and Tweedy go way back.

Hmmmm. This might be the straw that breaks this camel's back of tolerance, though. It could be written about any bands, and is a theme played upon in any number of reviews, but it sticks in my craw a little.

The first questions we ask about any new addition to a deep catalog are Can I put it in the pantheon? Does it measure up to the old stuff, while still sounding distinct? The answers are almost always “no.” Maybe it lacks some of the spark of the prime period. Maybe it successfully channels the classic sound but, by definition, isn’t as innovative. Maybe it’s every bit the equal of the earlier work but doesn’t seem so because it’s less in step with cultural tastes, or because it arrived too late to serve as the soundtrack to your formative moments. In your personal playlist, you’ll probably never have a 10th record in as heavy rotation as you will the one you heard when you were 13 or 18 or 22.

Maybe I'm a minority, but I really don't hear music as a soundtrack to my own life. Older records don't "take me back" to the "good old days" and remind me of where I was, and I don't wish that Here or the new Wilco or whatever would.
They’re just Being There, to borrow Wilco’s words. It beats breaking up.
. What a seeming lack of understanding of what it is to be an artist or working musician. In Jazz, in Blues, in other art forms, the masters are revered and one is welcome to age and continue a career that is seen as valuable in its own right. It's not there to soundtrack your selfies. It should enrich your life all of your life long. I feel sorry for the person whose love of music peaks at 13 or 18 or 22. Maybe these are the people for whom music was just their soundtrack? I don't know. I was at that show in NYC two years ago. Gosh, this guy who is a fan could hardly drag himself over there, it seems, but hey, he snapped a photo to prove he went.
Ain't lost yet, so I gotta be a winner
