This is very entertaining. Most people know the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders version of Call Me Maybe. Less people may know the interpretation by the US Military, inspired by the cheerleaders version. it is a very well studied piece, they clearly had enough time on their hands to get it perfect, and appear to be a very resourceful, imaginative and talented bunch of soldiers. It is a very well studied piece. I didn't know how well though until some bright spark put them side by side. Watch on a big screen if poss, might not be as effective on a mobile etc.

mind-boggling indeed. interesting to hear how other minor-key hits would fare.

I have become slightly obsessed with this clip from American Bandstand. The initial part with the phone is so set up (phoney!) and very twee; then there's the odd moment when the dancers suddenly get down, and the surreal segue at the end between art and commerce. It's a fabulous time-piece - the hair, the fashions. Indeed, the sharpest dressed young man on set appears to be a very young man indeed - maybe 10-12?? Then of course this is Beefheart at his most pop-approachable before he really unleashed the phenomenal creativity that was fomenting in his brain. Not sure "the kids" ever really got him after that ...

And this is about a month before I turned two ... It also resonates because my parents tell me that gripping the TV and hauling myself up to sway to the Australian version of Bandstand is how I learned to stand up and walk...

I will now proceed to untangle the entire area.

Actually for a pop song on that stage, it's surprisingly a pretty good song. Not exactly Tom Jones, or Neil Diamond, but something like that. The official video is a bit weird with the cowboys.

I really like the song! To the point where I don't even feel the need to add an  smilie! I'm just having a sly laugh at the singers dancing antics, they really are something else :D Also, the way in which he suddenly reverts to death metal style vocalising (see 3m.10s) is pretty impressive
