around 18 -20 i discovered a load of bands in depth that before i had only heard the odd wee thing. The doors were one of them. along with the velvets i devoured them. unlike the velvets i tired of them. i stil like to hear the odd track but dont know if i could face a whole album, SLIM love em, in particular the LIVE album. still love apocolypse now (obscure 7ts move maui  ) bit with the END on the soundtrack.

as for queen i was too kewl for their pompous behaviour in the mid 7ts but in the cold light of day they are simply an awesome singles band, not sure about the albums but i do recall my mate Tony playing me Night at the Opera in his bedroom when it came out couldnt stand it.

I can't stand them.

Amazing band. Absolutely love them. Favourite tracks include Peace Frog, Love Me Two Times, Touch Me, Take It As It Comes, Love Street. There are so many classics. I have seen a couple of tribute bands and I probably would go and see the remaining original members if they come to Manchester.
As for Queen. Greatest Hits Volume 1 is pretty much perfect, not a single duff track. I found their later stuff a bit cheesy but still quite enjoyable. The live footage I have seen always shows them to have been a phenomenal live band.
Your obsession gets you known throughout the school for being strange, making lifesize models of The Velvet Underground in clay.

They're pretty hit and miss. A few good tunes in there though. I think The Doors without Morrison isn't such a bad idea. Although The Doors with Astbury isn't necessarily a good idea.

How about The Doors with Har Mar Superstar. That would be gold!

Gold!
As i reigned blows upon his head i realized there must be another way! A festivus for the rest of us!

Can't claim to have listened to a hell of a lot by them but from what I have I'm inclined to agree with Maui.

I like the Doors a lot. My favourite album is the 1st one. My favourite song is probably Touch Me. I also like LA Woman, mainly for the 1999 playoff "jingle" Mojo Risin' (especially after the Robin Ventura Grand Slam single vs. Braves in the rain).

I HATE Queen, but must admit that Seven Seas of Rhye is a "tune" (I bought it on single) and I did like them up to about "Night at the Opera" (even saw them live  ) - but after their 1975 output I'd say I probably hate their stuff as much as any other band's ever.

I've yet to have my say... I like most voted yes but I do find them a little over-rated. I love 'Break on through', People are strange etc but not alot else. Perhaps i'll shall really get into them one day...

I like T-Rex but try as I will I can't be bothered to pick up anything by them as I only like a handful of tunes and right now thats how I feel about The Doors.

morrison was a buffoon, but they made some great recordings...they sounded like a great group.

i think 'touch me' is my favourite too, did you see the footage from the ed sullivan show (?) where robbie krieger has the black eye? classic.

FP - buy The Slider and Electric Warrior - they are fantastic albums.
