Music/bands you hate..

Music/bands you hate..

Postby sensei on Mon Jun 01, 2015 11:07 pm

Having grown up in the 80's, I was exposed to a lot of shitty AOR ('classic rawk'). While there is some classic rock I can tolerate and even like, there is stuff that will make me run out of the room. While I don't 'hate' Pink Floyd or Led Zepplin, I'd be perfectly happy if I never hear one of their songs (I like Syd's Pink Floyd) ever again. But I'm talking really bad 1970s rawk: Black Oak Arkansas (and other southern bands), Foghat, Nazareth, Kansas, Styx, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Boston, Heart, Foreigner, Rush, and just about everything else in between. The stuff (there are exceptions) of 1970's and 80's American corporate AOR radio is the pits.

Ach. Life's too short to hate shit. Just don't listen to it.

I am wondering what his favourite music is. Chris de Burgh is my guess.

I don't want to be a nattering nabob of negativity, I don't dwell on the hatred. I don't listen to this music if I can't help it. But come on, there has to be music people here really can't stand.

Kylie Minogue. Had a friend who would play her non stop. Fuckin songs are imprinted in my brain. Against my wishes..

Hate the Simon Cowell genre of mediocre pop shite.. can't figure if its because I'm getting old or if its because its just dire..

Throaty suicidal emo depths of hell antagonised vocal 'music'.. which two of my kids are in to.. the teenage kids..

Modern Country.. no thanks!

I like most other stuff.. depends on what I feel like listening to on the day.

Paul Weller & Paul Heaton, as well as The Jam, Style Council. Housemartins & Beautiful South previously, mainly because of the demographics of the fan base; wannabe 40 & 50 something pretend football casuals in Adidas & Stone Island (see also ska music)

Morrissey & The Smiths. As Mark E Smith said "typical Paddy; always moaning."

R&B, metal, AOR, most dance, gangsta rap and Gilbert & bloody sullivan, which my dad loved.

basically everything that isn't TFC or James Last....
El Jodido Payaso de Mierda: pathetic moaning old bastard whose interests include Newcastle Benfield FC, UK Alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub, Literature, Ultra Left Wing Politics, Real Ale & scoring goals for Wallsend Boys' Club Over 40s.

Thats unfair. I quite like some of Weller and Heaton's stuff and I am not a wannabe 40 & 50 something. I am a genuine, authentic 40 & 50 something.
