Teenage Fanclub vinyl charity auction !

Postby steviegiro on Mon May 25, 2015 7:33 pm

I have been asked to post this here as it is charity auction for Yorkhill Children's Hospital.

Further details for this can be found through Brian Friary on Facebook

Hopefully some folk on here will bid !

:-D

"Item number 6 (I think) is the pick of the bunch for me. It's several ultra rare limited edition Teenage Fanclub vinyls. This was given to us for auction by Peter Love from his brother Gerry. Can't quite believe his generosity! There are loads of belters but arguably the pick of the bunch is a limited edition of Grand Prix which is still sealed and worth a fortune. We will auction that on the night separately. I am keen to raise as much as possible for charity for these so I'm going to post them on fan sites and forums etc to get interest. But as before it is a silent auction so message with your top bids and I'll listen to offers for any items. Some records are unreleased or only available in other countries. Please share or tag with the right people to help us raise as much as possible for Yorkhill. Again a HUGE thank you to Peter and Gerard. Hope Wednesday with the Foo Fighters goes brilliantly!"

1. A 7" untitled vinyl which has a Spanish address on it. It is from 1995 and was originally given away with the first 1000 copies of Grand Prix in the UK. It consists mainly of home demos recorded at Gerry's flat in Glasgow. (EMI)
2. A 7" vinyl Free Again/ Bad Seeds from 1992. I believe this was available in USA only. (International pop underground vol XXVI)
3. A 7" vinyl Long Shot/ Loops And Stings recorded with Finlay MacDonald for World Cup 1998. No sleeve with this. (Creation Records)
4. A 7" vinyl I Need Direction/ On This Good Night from 2000. (Sony)
5. A 7" vinyl It's All In My Mind/ Please Stay (PeMa 2005)
6. A 7" vinyl Radio/ Don's Gone Columbia (Creation 1993)
7. A 7" vinyl Baby Lee/ Secret Heart (PEMA 2010)

there's also an Ain't That Enough and I Don't Want Control Of You, both of which are one sided 12". These were pretty limited.

From Brian :

' Thanks for posting our auction info on the forum. We are having a fund raiser for Yorkhill on June 6th. It will be a raffle and auction for several items. I have been doing a "silent auction" in the run up to the event. People can send me a message with their top bid for any item. The highest bid I receive will be the "reserve bid" going in to the event. If no one outbids the reserve at the event the item is theirs! So the higher the reserve bid the less likely that someone will outbid it and the more we make for our charity. I think Grand Prix as a stand alone item is getting the most interest at the moment. I've had several bids in the £50 region so far. I think I might offer the remaining 12" vinyls as a bundle and the 7" vinyls as a bundle also.

This is why we are raising funds :)

just to clarify that Long Shot, Ain't That Enough 12" and I Don't Want Control Of You 12" are actually in the original blank sleeves, it's just that they're not in picture sleeves.

all records are unplayed and in mint condition.

hi ruthie,

you just bid and the highest bidder wins. :D

it's silent, so the current highest bid isn't made public.
if you were bidding on facebook then i'm sure you could ask brian if your bid is the highest bid. if not then maybe you could bid again, if you were feeling generous.

the auction takes place on saturday night in a venue. people at the venue can bid on the items but if the highest venue bid fails to reach the current high internet bid, the item goes to the internet bidder.

there are 3 lots:

grand prix as a stand alone lot

the 12" singles + man-made + peel sessions as 1 lot

the 7" singles as 1 lot

does this make it any clearer?

Yes it does Gerry thanks!

Brian had actually messaged me, but the message had gone into the 'other' message inbox on FB, cause he's not a FB friend. And there's no way to know when someone has messaged you and it's not appeared in your normal inbox! (And I can't check them on my phone anyway, only from a PC) I checked on a whim!

I'm chatting to him now on FB.

Ta! :D
