Have to agree, its an overlooked album full of good songs, strangely the weakest being Squeezebox.
Theres a track on the album that always reminds me of mid-career REM.............i'll have to dig it out and have a listen

I'm listening to it on vinyl and it just sounds so damn good.
I never thought about REM when listening...let me know which song I'd love to know so I can compare the two. :)

You're right, Barry. I'd never made that connection before.

The Who By Numbers is, indeed, an underrated album: one of my fave Who albums. Another album you would like, but may not know, would be the album that Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane made called 'Rough Mix' - check that out, it is ace :-)

I definitely know that album I'm a HUGE Who fan and it is pretty awesome and it's beautifully recorded too. :)

It is indeed beautifully recorded and has a might cast of musicians on it.

I am just listening to it now and just finished my fave song on the album, 'Misunderstood' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgDwvWqIx4o
