I would say the absolute must-haves are:
Let it Be
Tim
Pleased to Meet Me

The should-also-haves:
Sorry Ma...
Hootenanny

Then Stink, DTAS, and ASD. Then the odds and ends left over.

I'll need to investigate Please to Meet Me further. From what I've heard it seems to have a horrible 80's production (especially the drums).

Is this the case?

Please to Meet Me is a great album. And the album version of Can't Hardly Wait is far better than the earlier takes/the Tim version/recordings. It's a sweet song.

Yeah, PTMM has "80's" production - big reverb, whatever. It sounds great - produced by Jim Dickinson, no less. I agree w/ Bad Seed re: the versions of Can't Hardly Wait. The PTMM version is killer. Plus, you have Skyway (!), Valentine (!!), Never Mind (!!!), Alex Chilton (!!!!) all on there... It's a great, great album.

Tim is the one with the reputation for terrible production, courtesy of Tommy Ramone. That may have been mitigated in the reissue - have yet to hear it, but really it doesn't matter. The songs are so killer, it's a classic all the way.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ Rules! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Had a sudden urge to hear CHW. Greatness! And to lead into it with Skyway... genius.

Descendents are one of the best! I see they're playing shows again, hoping for a US tour.

Saw the 'Mats twice on the PTMM tour. They were such a great live band. Their reputation for drunken shows was deserved (Bob walked onstage wearing a diaper when I saw them on the 'Tim' tour), but they Rocked. They played the wierdest venue in SF, circa Fall 1987, called the Gift Center in SOMA. I was three-sheets myself, but they tore into Color Me Impressed as an opener, then me & my friends all noticed that the band had shaved off their eyebrows. A very odd look

I get to see them at the Hollywood Palladium in April (and they just announced a second show on Tax Day https://mobile.twitter.com/thepalladium ... 26336?s=09 ). I saw them at the Palladium 25 years ago. Damn I'm old (the shoddy lineup is why I'm skipping coachella again).

I'm going to Amsterdam. Saw them in Dublin in 1991.
