'The Sun Shines Here!' Southampton Thurs 25th June

Postby richpassivity on Thu Oct 21, 2010 1:52 pm

I am starting an indie-pop 'Monday Social' club night at Goblets, 184 Above Bar Street, Southampton, SO14 7DW on Monday 1st November & then if it goes well hopefully the first Monday of each month. :)

I will be playing Indie-Pop (old & new from SHOP ASSISTANTS to PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART to TEENAGE FANCLUB to ORANGE JUICE); classic punk rock (BUZZCOCKS; UNDERTONES; RAMONES etc) & 60s Girl Groups (SHANGRI LAS; RONETTES; COOKIES etc), plus the odd surprise!

Times will be 7.30-11pm & will be asking for a small donation of a quid or whatever people think it is worth!

Went down well. Was nice (for example) when a younger member of the audience came up & asked me who 'Poppy Day' by BRIGHTER was by as he thought it was great! :D

Nice, My Favourite Dress followed by Don't Dictate, a favourite cover of the Wedding Present around that time, if I'm not mistaken.

Nice playlist!

8) That is my favorite Blondie track, from what is probably my favorite Blondie album. And it reminds me, I still haven't read Gary Valentine's New York Rocker book, and I've been meaning to for ages.
Ain't lost yet, so I gotta be a winner

Indeed, that was deliberate on my part & also why I played GIRLS AT OUR BEST's 'Going Nowhere Fast' prior to 'My Favourite Dress'! :D

Indeed - I have a cover of Going Nowhere fast on one of the old cassette bootlegs they used to sell through the Invasion of The Wedding Present fanzine. Only half a spotter's badge for me...
