B&S ATP

I'm with Duglas. PLEASE confirm those BMX chaps and chapettes. (I feel that I can be certain that this Duglas is not THE Duglas) 'cos that would just be cynical marketing. :D C'mon B & S, us pop kids need you! We DEMAND (somewhat sheepishly) The BMX Bandits. AND is it's too late there's always a Barras slot!

Paul M wrote:Sounds like just about the perfect ATP festival for me: B&S/TFC/Julian Cope/The New Pornos/The Vaselines/Apples in Stereo/The Zombies/Frightened Rabbit/Field Music and the list of acts just keeps getting better. Shame I won't be there. :(

These ATP festivals are all well and good but the chalet thing means having friends/family who are into the same music!! Doesn't anyone else think that's a bit of a tall order?

Mate I know exactly what you mean. I went to Truck festival yesterday and booked a ticket really late, if it had been this type of deal I would never have gone. If I hadn't booked for Bowlie 2 when I did then I wouldn't be going to that either, cause the 2 berth rooms sold out really quickly. I know possibly one person on this planet who would be into this, and luckily she was free. All my other friends would probably only go if it was Take That or Boyzone. If she wasn't free then I wouldn't be going as I couldn't afford a 2 berth room on my own, and no way would I be sharing with a stranger.

I know some of the people on this board are friends in real life, which is cool. I've only recently met anyone from here so wouldn't have been in a position to suggest sharing before that.

Is it different for a bloke? Would you consider sharing with complete strangers if it meant you could go? There are people looking for rooms for various events on their facebook page, would you consider that? Thing is, if you go once, you'd probably make friends there who you could go with again.

When we went to the original Bowlie, we shared with a complete stranger. But then there were 3 of us and we only had to advertise for one other. Luckily, the person turned out to be a real sweetie. He suggested that we see his friends who were playing. That was Camera Obscura who are now one of my favourite bands. I might have missed them if Stuart hadn't told us to go and see them. So that worked out really well for us. And it is so amazing having a bed and a shower and a sofa and Bowlie/ATP TV is really good too. We hate camping, although we did for the Connect Festival, so the chalet thing works really well for us. It is tragic that people have to miss out because they don't know people to share with but I hope you think that the whole chalet experience makes it extra special when you get there.

Ooh that's so cool, that's a great story.

To be honest, if this was camping I probably wouldn't go to this either. This is the way forward for me, I like my toilet surrounded by a nice comfy bathroom, in a nice comfy hotel room. If I can't have that then Butlins will have to do! :-)

I think the 2 bed berth ones are gonna be a bit more austere than the 4 bed ones, no sofa, no option of a kitchen (they only start at the 4 bed rooms) but the most important thing is it's NOT camping. And who knows, maybe next time we'll be sharing with more people.

Wonder if Paul M, and others like him cause there are other people asking for spare slots on their facebook discussion page, could get a spare bed like your friend Stuart did?

They're from Chicago and are quite good. Opened for The Vaselines when they were here last, if I remember right.

Oh my gosh, the ZOMBIES too? Belle and Sebastian must be stopped, they're
killing me. I haven't taken a breath since checking on the line-up for the
first time in ages just now. A room in a four berth full of strangers would alone
cost $1100? Is it possible to suffocate from despair? Someone call a doctor...

In a better world, The Zombies would be headlining or co-headlining. The human race is a failed species :)

That's the price for the entire chalet which sleeps 4, and includes 4 tickets for the weekend. So if you can find 3 friends or strangers to come with you, it'll only be approx $275 for the weekend. Not bad for accomodation and ticket.

I got a 2 berth at £330, as I only know one other person who would come with me! So that's £180 (approx, not inc booking fee etc), approx $277, practically the same. Except the 2 berth don't come as self catering, you only get that option at 4 berth. And I think they're VERY basic. But it's STILL not camping! :-)

I'm gutted I missed the two berths at this. Don't think I can justify spending double and wouldn't want to take chances with randoms. ATP don't answer email queries on what they do with 4 berths if they don't sell them.
