I have been put on the guest list for the Brighton gig on Wednesday. Anyone seen them live, I have Va va Voom and Torino and they are ok but the songs are all of a similar ilk I find.

They're ace and they play some Wedding Present tunes and they sound grrrrrrreat. Gedge could come round after the Fanclub had finished and shit on my doorstep an' all. Dunno how I'm gonna get out of the house if Dulli were to nip round and take his bow too. the neighbours'll be ripping, mind you.

Wedding Present tunes as well.....sounds good as ong as he doesn't keep banging on about 'lost love' all night......strange considering he has been with his current missus for about 15 years!

R'n'B. Word on the street is David and Sally are no longer together.

Still, he'll probably be all bitter and stuff. And he did a blinding version of Octopussy in Belfast in November.

The man is a God for us over sensitive feeble minded types...

Noooooooo...he and Sally are no more....that will mean another ten albums banging on about his broken heart!
I reckon he splits up when he needs inspiration for new songs.

Thanks for the tip off Pinball...I will still wander along and see how sad he is.

One of my ex girlfriends used to live next door to David Gedge and she said he used to practice operatic scales....obviously not Wedding Present days!!!!!

Up when he was at 52 Brudenell Road in that Leeds? Reception Records eh? Nicking Sally off the old drummer and then sacking him (lloked like "Egg" out of This Life. Then the old fanzine "Invasion of the Wedding Present".

Ahhhh. Great days. And he's a charmer when you meet him. My ex nearly wet herself when he started speaking in that really clipped northern accent. All this and a degree in maths. His entry is on Friends Reunited too (thanks to ICM for that).

I think it was in leeds where my ex lived next door.

Wouldn't of got very far living next to me doing his operatic scales in a clipped northern accent.

'Oi Gedge, button it will ya mate, not everyone wants to hear your madame butterfly ramblings.'

So, he's a bit of a charmer then eh......obviously not many strings to that bow then if he writes so much about lost love etc.

Maths degree......yawn.......smart though...agreed!

I saw Cinerama at The Leadmill on Saturday - they were excellent. Sally's not touring with them and according to Cinerama's message board (not a patch on this one, mind) Dave Gedge said she was at home looking after her dogs!
They did about 3 Wedding Present songs. I'm biased, but I'd definitely go, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Gedge has never put a foot wrong music-wise...in my opinion.

May be tantamount to blasphemy but I think the Cinerama stuff is at least on a par with any of the Wedding Present recordings...

It's not a bad board that one.

Now as far as it being as good as "any" of the Wedding Present stuff, I think that would be stretching a point. But as far as it goes it's better than some and as good as some but never better.

By the way, anyone who hasn't ventured into "mini" or "saturnalia" should do so. Anyone who thinks he stopped after Seamonsters is sadly mistaken. These records are ace.

Saturnalia is a wee gem...particularly the 10" vinyl version...lovely.
