I'm going to finally invest in all of The Beatles albums, but.....

Ýou can buy new vinyl and/or cds, and get some second hand vinyl with rarities or different mixes.
I´ve got cds, but one of the most enjoyable listening experiences I have is puttin the Stereo vinyl versions of their earlier stuff. My father bought the red and blue double albums in the US in early 70´s and all the early singles have a stereo mix with a strange echo... but I like it.
Maybe is like seeing a colored black and white movie

Unless you are a shut in, and don't get out often, I'd recommend the CD's for portability and cleaner digital transfer (to mp3's, etc.). The transfer and mastering is damn good. Tape speeds seem right on, so why go vinyl unless you had to (i.e. like me because I was collecting Beatle albums before the invention of the CD). I now have both formats.

Nothing like listening to an original mono recording, scratches and all.

I am a bit weird in as much as when an artist records scartches from a record starting onto their cd, I feel all nostalgic and dig out some of my ropey old seven inch singles....all fucked and jumping obviously.

I've got them all on CD. But buying vinyl is cool... the big cover and the smell of paper is great. I, however, don't have that thingy where you play them
