These sound right to me, but what do I know. How about One Thousand Lights now? I get about every 10th word.

Listening to this single straight through for the first time in a while, I'm thinking it might be the best TFC single ever. And I was pleasantly surprised when that little DDD sticker flew out when I opened the case - forgot all about it. Stickers good. :D

Every Step is a Gerry Love classic I believe. And I'd add Some People Try To Fuck With You to that list. I love that song.

i did a quick victory dance, when i opened the case and that colorful little gem fell to the floor. it's still stuck on my 'fridge, keeping my merge records sticker company. :D

My DDD sticker is on the wall of my cubicle at work. Quite appropriate eh?

I didn't like the sticker. If I remember correctly, it didn't even say Teenage Fanclub? And I remember reading (on an earlier version of this board maybe?) something about if you give away a free item (such as a sticker) in your single it disqualifies it from the UK charts. Which to me signaled that the label had no intention of even trying to push the single to be a hit.

But yes, Thaw Me rocks.

if true, then that definitely rains on the parade. even worse, i'm not quite sure where to direct my ire, toward the suits at the label or toward the industry suits that drafted the rule. well, i'll just stick pins in both voodoo dolls. :x

(on a more serious note, i wonder if that type of disqualification also affects the enhanced cd singles with videos...)

Well, that's a crazy rule. I could see it maybe if the freebie was advertised on the sleeve, tempting people with $5 in their pocket to buy the single with the extras, over a different one by another artist with no extras - unfair advantage, or something, but otherwise, it seems like bullshit.

I can't stick the sticker on anything, because then I'd feel obligated to keep whatever I stuck it on forever, or suffer horrible guilt by eventually throwing it out, and a little bit of TFC with it. Can't live with that kind of stress.

i cheated. i put blue tack (or whatever that crap's called) on the back, then stuck it to the 'fridge. as a renter, i'm aware of the fact that the future always holds another move, and i'm definitely not charitable enough to leave that sticker as a welcome present for the next tenant. :)

You're memory is dead on, Sonia. The sticker was sad to be a limiting factor in whether a single could be counted for the charts (now that's really dumb dumb dumb). Did it prevent "Dark Side of The Moon" with the stickers and two posters from making the charts? Dumb. I seem to remember (but I was extremely uncomfortable with a sunburn) Norm making some comment about this reality when they were in SF. I'm not sure he was keen on the stickers as well. TFC yes, DDD, no.

"One Thousand Lights" is easy Georgia. "On This Good Night", that one's the bitch. I can't figure out the words to this song. HELP!

ONE THOUSAND LIGHTS – Gerard Love

Good friends,
I'm missing
Your neon nights
These moments
Are treasured,
I've held on tight

But I can't store
This easy life
I'm back in black
With no end in sight

From the subway
There's a street bathed
In a thousand lights
I'm caught up,
Hopeful,
I'm hypnotized

But I can't store
This easy life
I'm back in black
With no end in sight

I can't store
This easy life
I'm back in black
With no end in sight

On This Good Night - Gerard Love

Through the fading night
runway lights disappearing
I watched us speeding climb(?)
And air beneath the floor(??)

On this good flight
arms above the seasons
across this changing land
to march to more control(???)

and there is a silver light
a golden feelin'
on this good night
on this disappearing

and if the stars align
an endless ceiling
on this good night...

we broke the speed of sound
(we broke the speed of sound)
as the light was changing
above this big idea
(above this big idea)
above this crystal scene

should be making plans
(should be making plans)
everytime buys reason(????)
we called this changing land
(we called this changing land)
from beyond a distant shore(?????)

there is a silver light
a golden feeling
on this good night
on this disappearing

and with the stars aligned
an endless ceiling
on this good night...
LAter

Thanks for that. Doubt I'll be of much use with OTGN, but I'll make an attempt this evening.

Stickers still good. To hell with the charts!

It's on the I Need Direction 7" vinyl which you ought to still be able to find. In theory, it also exists on one version of the IND CD single, but I never had any luck finding it.

Cheers!

Is there any other songs which are available only on vinyl?

I've got the 'Long Shot' vinyl; aside from that are there any others?

Ummm. The acoustic v. of The Cabbage on the b-side of Did I Say comes to mind. Also The 7" they did w/ Big Star. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think to much at the end of the workday. Check out tergely's most excellent discog. page for more info. http://home.no.net/teenage/fanclub/disco/index.html
