Not a horror and Korean not Japanese,

but watch out for OLD BOY this weekend

Saw a preview of it on Tuesday. Edge of you seat / hide behind your popcorn cinema.

Image

It cinematography is great and it has some really beautiful music, which makes the whole thing even crazier.

Are you saying you don't like horror movies in general or just these?

I'm just glad that the same director did both Juon and Grudge. And that Sarah Michelle Gellar is back in the horror genre. Buffy Lives!!!!

I meant I don't like Japanese horror movie in general . cos it's toooooooooo scary for me and I'm a timid person   Japanese type ghost or monsters are different with western type ones I guess. it's more mental effects and I can't see Japanese actor or actress are acting it....

yes same director did it and agree it's best way to remake it.

I saw Ju-On a couple of weeks ago, and it was very good. The imagery was amazingly creepy. I look forward to seeing The Grudge, although I know they'll change it up alot. I guess they kind of have to because alot of cultural things in Japan don't translate very well to the general American audiences. I still don't think it was as scary as Ringu, though.

There are several different versions of Ju-on, I've seen the television version which is said to be the scariest and most effective. I found it a little silly and very disjointed. I did piece the plot together later after discussing it, but it didn't really change my opinion of the film.

I really wish they didn't cast Sara Michelle Gellar in the US remake, as I find it hard to take her seriously in anything. An unknown would've been better casting, in my opinion.

Old Boy is a fantastic film from start to finish. I have a copy of Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, but have yet to watch it.

Here is a link to the sequel to the American The Ring remake:

And in other Asian cinema chat, I enjoyed Infernal Affairs the other night very much.

I saw "Honogurai mizu no soko kara" (hurray for copy-paste) after seeing "The Ring". It has a good atmosphere, but I saw the plot comming from miles...
