Scottish versions of popular songs

Postby kevkov on Tue Oct 12, 2004 12:34 pm

From The Herald diary

Music to our ears

AS the National Mod celebrates the best of Scottish music, we thought we would do our bit, by asking readers for the popular songs whose titles could easily be given a Scottish theme. Douglas Wilson of Cumbernauld suggests:

Fool If you Think It's Yoker.
You've Lost That Govan Feeling.
Crying in Drumchapel.

How's about 'Straight Outta Plockton'?!?!?

My dad has a habit of saying Inveraray in the style of the Village People's smash hit In The Navy. Does this count?

Streets full of people, all alone
Rows full of houses, never home
Church full of singing, out of tune
Everyone's gone to DUNOON

Eyes full of sorrow, never wet
Hands full of money, all in debt
Sun disappears in the middle of June
Everyone's gone to DUNOON

Long time ago, life had begun
Everyone went to the sun

Hearts full of motors, painted green
Mouths full of chocolate-covered cream
Hands that can only lift a spoon
Everyone's gone to DUNOON
Everyone's gone to DUNOON
Everyone's gone to DUNOON

No Sleep til Coldstream
If this were the Seine, we'd be very suave;
But it's just the rain, washing down the boulevard.
