Songs with talkie bits in them

Songs with talkie bits in them

Postby Paul Ramon on Tue Oct 12, 2004 11:02 am

It appears from Boringman's intriguing thread that most stop/start songs are good but what about songs where the artist chooses to talk in the middle?
Some examples:
Elvis: Are you Lonesome Tonight (not good)
Pet Shop Boys: Domino Dancing (acceptable)
Beach Boys: At My Window (good, though unintelligible)

What do you think?

Alternatively, try and spot the singing amongst the voluminous works of Mark E Smith.

"Love too soon" by PJ Harvey and Pascal Comelade. Lovely singing and lovlier talkin'.
Sometimes there is nothing left to say except, "oh".

Various Kenny Rogers songs. "Coward of the county" comes to mind.
Sometimes Sam says yes, and sometimes Sam says no. Which will it be today?
