Pete Mc Carthy RIP

Postby Tipper on Fri Oct 08, 2004 2:11 pm

All around good-guy and author of 'Mc Carthys bar' and 'The Road to McCarthy' passed away a couple of days ago in Brighton.

RIP Peter, hope the Guinness beyond the pearly gates is as good as in west Cork.

Very sad news. I used to enjoy his travelogue stuff on the TV, a very witty man.
The best way to waste time is to fill it. If you can read this, congratulations on your Légion d'Honneur.Image

Very sad to hear this news. I was a fan of Pete McCarthy's writing and his book 'McCarthy's Bar' inspired me to take a similiar trip around the coast of Ireland in a beat up old van were I experienced many of the things described in the book.

I have yet to get around to reading any of his books but the nephew interviewed him once and and said he was a genuine charming bloke. A big Pogues fan as well I understand. A relativly yooung man as well, SAD.

The mother is a Kelly by the way Eugene we could be cousins :D
I will take to calling you cousin Eugene in future.
