The Rough Trade comp is brilliant. Listened to it last night. Very very good.
If this were the Seine, we'd be very suave;

The doorsteps of that plain loaf toasted over a single bar electric fire would keep you going for a fortnight nae bother.

Very good :lol:

I was going to pick this up the other day, it's got a bunch of tracks I used to have on vinyl. HMV [nearest record shop to my work] were charging 14 bar for it though, I'll wait and get it in Avalanche.

Is the Rough Trade comp supposed to come with a booklet? I got a copy in Avalanche yesterday, no booklet and a sticker on the back stating "PROMOTIONAL ONLY NOT FOR RESALE". Still cost me 12 dink!

I've got the excellent Nicky Campbell on the phone...

Yes - cracking wee booklet with groovy info and comments from the RT compilers. Indeed friend of this board Mr Pastel makes some contributions. You really need the booklet tfd dude, adds to the whole flavour.

Cheers for the info, my man. I'll be up there for a replacement this afternoon.

They are called Whole Wide World Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

Other great bands on these comps: The Flatmates (AWESOME!), The Chesterfields (isn't this another band with member/s of TFC?), The Rosehips, early The Soup Dragons and Pop Will Eat Itself (?!), The Groove Farm, Choo Choo Train (the band that "morphed" into Velvet Crush), Razorcuts, Rodney Allen (hot tracks!), Bubblegum Splash, etc.

is there a clouds ltrack on each one?

Yes. "Tranquil" is on Whole Wide World Vol. I and "Village Green" is on Whole Wide World Vol. II.

bloody hell it's like the sound track to my youth as i have nearly all these on vinyl and itend to Dj with some of them very very soon (hint - Birmingham) with a touch of northern soul and psych and yes Duglas the My Bloody Valentine track is a work of sonic beauty - and don't forget kids - i was a mod before you were a mod!

ps did you know Pop Will Eati Itself have reformed (Fact!)

If you like the early PS sound then you should definitely try to find their Sonic Flower Groove album. You could probably get a cheap cd in a second hand store. :D beat
The one thing that would make the world alright today would be if Teenage Fanclub showed up to play a gig in my house.
