Wow, the board actually contains a discussion that makes good points and doesn't just turn into a smutfest or nonsense. Good stuff. I think some artists are very important and some are assholes just too into their own importance. I think it over simplifies things to say Doctors are of more worth than artists though.

That is based on my view (loosely aligned with humanism), that human life is more precious (important?) than anything known to man. And doctors can save lives, artists can make them more enjoyable while they happen.

Fairly simplistic perhaps, but the imminent war in Iraq, for example, has far more implications on the future of millions of people than which record label my heroes sign for next. However, I wish it were not the case.

And yes it's nice to be able to discuss and disagree without it becoming personal. Well done us.
