Sweden or Spain?

Postby Rick.N.Baker on Mon Jun 07, 2004 9:04 am

I have just been made redundant.....it's a great thing, I have been here for 17 years....man and boy and now I have two options for a real change of lifestyle, one is in Spain, selling property, the other is in Sweden doing, well, nothing for at least six months but finishing my language course.

never been to sweden, but if you're after making a permanent move, you'd be as well staying in brighton as moving to spain. so sweden it is. doing nothing also sounds like a great plan....

I'd sell upand move to Spain in a shot if I had anything to sell. Cheaper to live. Always sunny.

sorry to hear redundant too, but you don't like that job much, so like you said, hope it's a great thing for you.

never been to Sweden, only to Spain. both nice country I guess, but if it's a permanent move, my vote is Sweden like others. the community is good, and social services are well organized. so good place to live. but I remember Mrs baker doesn't like Swedish Cold, does she?

OH you can see Mando Diao in there!

SPAIN

No contest.

Northern Europe is full of miserabilists and existentialists.
Britain is wall-to-wall neds.

Although Sweden has great social welfare...
You need some SUNSHINE in your lives...even if only for a few years. 8)

Try Spain for a couple of years. If it works out, you'll be able to build up a nice life in the sun.

If it doesn't work out you can always go back to Sweden with the mrs and her roots there, and the young one will still be able to grow up in a country with decent educational system and facilities.

You could buy some nice Scandanavian chic furniture if you stayed in Sweden, and you wouldn't have to go to IKEA to get it.

By the way, Sweden is quite warm and sunny during the summer...

I moved to Southern Sweden two years ago, from London, and it was the best move I ever made. Very little crime and the summers are beautiful here. Also, Copenhagen is a just hop away. PICK SWEDEN!

Well, as many of you know, my wife is swedish so that would be the obvious choice, I don't like the idea of cold winters, however I do speak the language.
I could have a better, bigger property in both countries than I have now, although the life would be cheaper in Spain.....maybe try them both out as someone suggested and just rent my house out here for the additional income for now?????

Thanks
