Until fairly recently the bandstand in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow was the kind of rundown place where a band could just wander in unofficially and make a low-budget music video. But now, thanks to a longstanding campaign to bring it back into regular use, it has finally been fully refurbished. When we were asked to play there at one of a series of concerts to mark its re-opening we had no hesitation in accepting the invitation. Tickets go on sale at 9am this Friday 9th May, and will be available here.
We’re very glad to say that we’ll be playing in NYC as part of Hudson River Park’s RiverRocks 2014. The venue is Pier 84, at the end of W 44th St. The date is Thursday 24th July, two days before we head down to North Carolina to play at Merge 25.
I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been invited to play a couple of songs at a very special event which has been organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of Daniel Johnston’s Hi, How Are You!
The show takes place on the 2nd of June 2013 at the Barbican Centre in London. Daniel will be performing along with a number of guests. Myself, Jeffrey Lewis and Emmy The Great are already signed up with more people to be added in the near future.
